The high-level ministerial conference taking place in Harare, Zimbabwe, aims to
- advocate for more inclusive participation and meaningful engagement with young people as an asset in peacebuilding and conflict prevention mechanisms;
- assess the implementation of international and regional normative frameworks for youth in peace and security for different countries in Southern Africa;
- popularize regional, national and continental normative frameworks that seek to promote Youth, Peace and Security (YPS);
- showcase and highlight the varied initiatives and programmes developed or endorsed by African multilateral institutions and Member States to capacitate young people in Southern Africa,
- amplify youth voices through Inter-Generational Dialogues (IGD) as a platform to share their experiences including existing opportunities and challenges
Speakers include the GPACC Board Member Nqobile Moyo, both the President and Vice President of Zimbabwe, UN Resident Coordinator for Zimbabwe, African Union Youth Envoy, African Union Youth Ambassador for Southern Africa, Head of Governance, Peace and Security at the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, Zimbabwe Minister of Youth, Program lead for Save the Children Africa, African Union Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department Representative.
