Patrick grew up in Buboko, a poor, war-torn village in Uganda. Whilst the violent conflict had ended, chaos remained. As a child, Patrick was faced with violence and chaos, now he is changing the lives of many. His weapon? Peacebuilding.

In the village of Aravan in Kyrgyzstan, young people grow up in divided communities. They are used to fight each other on the streets. Melis and others challenged this and started to wonder: “why are we fighting each other?”.

In Kyrgyzstan, youth are faced with many challenges. Here in the village of Maeka, the absence of street lighting creates insecurity for women. Elzina and Elvira wanted to change that!

At the end of the Cold War, the neorealist paradigm focus on states, military security and the so-called ‘mutually assured destruction’ was challenged by the birth of a new concept, namely human security.

In Vanua Levu, Fiji, many women and girls are faced with domestic violence and community-based conflicts. Our member Transcend Oceania is working with boys and men to change that!
