Monitoring the Progress of the Implementation of SDG 13 in Mexico 2018 - 2021

The Civil Society Country Report by Centro de Colaboración Cívica (CCC) seeks to complement the VNR of Mexico by exemplifying the data and demonstrating progress around the fulfilment of SDG 13 on Climate Action as it connects to advancing sustainable peace and development at the national level.

The Executive Summary brings forward two main points:

  • First, despite a robust regulatory framework in Mexico to meet and comply with the goals of SDG 13, adequate funding, prioritization and an inclusive approach are required to sustain peace and advance sustainable development ahead of 2030.
  • Second, The Escazú Agreement, a regional framework to address climate change, is an opportunity to act collectively to build strong national institutions (SDG16) and prevent climate change (SDG13).
