The Militarization and Beyond

CRIES, with the support of GPPAC, launched The Militarization and Beyond. A publication analysing the militarization of public space across the Americas.

The deployment of military forces in public security crises is an increasing trend across the Americas. “Since we believe that it is not possible to think reasonable and pragmatic policies toward more peaceful societies in Latin America and the Caribbean without a critical approach to “militarization” in the continent”, CRIES has developed this Special Issue of Pensamiento Propio. This publication contains several articles aiming "to contribute to the debate on the massive securitization in Latin America and the Caribbean in order to provoke debate and to touch hearts, minds and souls of scholars, practitioners and decision-makers".
