GPPAC’s Key Recommendations for the 2025 PBAR Outcome Document

In this document intended for UN Member States, we highlight five key priorities that the 2025 PBAR outcome document could focus on:

1. Supporting the role of local peacebuilders as critical stakeholders in peacebuilding and sustaining peace;

2. Unpacking what inclusive national ownership and leadership in peacebuilding and sustaining peace means;

3. Advancing the role of the UN field presences in advancing peacebuilding and sustaining peace;

4. Strengthening the Peacebuilding Commission;

5. Strengthening the impact of the UN Peacebuilding Architecture at the field level.

These recommendations are drawn from GPPAC’s Vision for the 2025 PBAR and research paper outlining concrete steps to support Peacebuilding and Sustaining Peace at the country level. We have distilled the most relevant recommendations into the five priorities, ensuring alignment with previously agreed UN language.
