Sajida Abdulvahabova
Sajida Abdulvahabova is the Director of Woman Problems Research Union-Woman's Institute and also a Professor at the Baku State University, with a Doctor’s degree in Physics and Mathematics . As a coordinator of the Women Group "Coalition-1325", she has conducted a wide-scaled consultation to assess the needs and priorities of women in communities, ensuring that these priorities are reflected in the Poverty Reduction Strategy and National Plan of Action for Women. She has great expertise of IDP issues and has gained experience in the public sector, which allowed her to advocate successfully for the rights of internally displaced, for achievement of gender equality and equity, especially among disadvantaged groups of population.
Sajida is the author of various books in the field of human rights, gender and peacebuilding, such as ‘The history of human rights; Gender problems in the conception of Peace Culture’; ‘Women's role in the popularization of Peace Culture’; ‘Fundraising and marketing for NGO’; “2014 Civil Society Monitoring Country Report –AZERBAIJAN on UNSCR 1325”, “MAPPING and ANALYSIS of PEACEBUILDING INITIATIVES in AZERBAIJAN” which was prepared in cooperation with Global Network of Women Peacebuilders, and a Manual on Gender and Peace Education. Recognizing her significant contribution in promoting gender equality and advancement of women, UNIFEM has awarded her with Certificate of Appreciation from UNIFEM in 2006.
