Pupul Lama
Born and raised in India, a formerly colonised nation, Pupul is committed to safeguarding the rights of populations affected by humanitarian crises worldwide. Her passion revolves around advocating for the elimination of violence against women and girls and fostering safe (brave) spaces for women that are grounded on solidarity, accountability, agency, identity, and liberation.
At GPPAC, Pupul combines her passion: generating evidence on the intersections between women's participation and peacebuilding in armed conflict settings and amplifying decolonised narratives from the ground. With a background in social work and international humanitarian action, she brings a unique perspective to her work, informed by her experiences navigating local, regional, and international contexts.
Outside of ‘work’ work, Pupul channels her energy into building feminist movements in Asia and the Pacific region and leading the feminist research working group at the Coalition of Feminists for Social Change.
A lover of crime-thriller books, coffee, and wholesome conversations, Pupul’s zest for life is fueled by the thought-process that every act of kindness, no matter how small, is a step toward making the world a better place - because who knows? Maybe one day, those small actions will dramatically change the world.
