Connecting Policy to Local Realities
On 12-13 December 2024, 16 GPPAC members participated in the second CSO-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding. The Dialogue that brought together diverse civil society actors, UN representatives, and Member States focused on conflict prevention as a thematic priority for the 2025 UN Peacebuilding Architecture Review (PBAR) and explored three sub-themes through a conflict prevention and gender-sensitive lens:
- Financing for peacebuilding.
- Meaningful civil society inclusion in UN processes.
- Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS).
During the Dialogue, GPPAC members shared their in-depth expertise on a variety of topics.
Merging OSINT and AI for Conflict Prevention
On 12 December, Andrei Serbin Pont, Pont Research Director, Coordinador Regional de Investigaciones Económicas y Sociales, GPPAC Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, shared his thoughts on combining technology with local knowledge during the Focus Session: Advancing Conflict Prevention.

On 13 December 2024, Ahmed Mohamed Nasir, Deputy Director and Head of Programs of GPPAC member Save Somali Women and Children, briefed the Peacebuilding Commission on how to advance the quality and quantity of financing for peacebuilding.

Youth Peace and Security
On 13 December 2024, Sarra Messaoudi on behalf of the MENA Coalition for YPS and GPPAC, briefed the Peacebuilding Commission on Youth Peace and Security. She highlighted how the UN Peacebuilding Architecture could prioritise the needs and perspectives of young people to strengthen impact.

Peacebuilding Impact
On 13 December GPPAC members from Mexico, Egypt, Niger, and South Sudan shared their insights during the Parallel Side-Session on ‘’Strengthening Peacebuilding Impact on the Ground: Considerations for Global Policy’’ to strengthen a shared understanding of what constitutes peacebuilding impact, identify the most effective methods of measuring it, and explore processes that could enhance the impact of peacebuilding efforts. The discussion brought together participants of the CSO-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding, including diverse local peacebuilders and the representatives of the UN and Member States. The focus of this session was directed toward the lived experiences and expertise of local peacebuilders.
