Accountability: Influencing and participating in national SDG reviews
CSOs can monitor and evaluate the SDG framework by providing inputs into formal review processes, or by undertaking their own civil society reporting.
A key formal process for this is the Voluntary National Review (VNR) of the SDGs. A series of alternatives exist including working with the media, national budgets or parliamentarians - have a look at the SDG Accountability Handbook for more background and suggestions.
In 2019 GPPAC worked with its members in Ghana and Cameroon to produce national SDG 16+ progress reviews - Ghana report and Cameroon report - to influence governmental development reviews and to open space for dialogue among governments and civil society.
